he exhibition will be held from 6 to 17 April in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb. In collaboration with POLIN – the Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw, the Festival presents reproductions of murals found throughout Poland, which speak about the past of the Polish Jews.
The murals appear in cities in which the Jews before made up a significant portion of the population before World War II, and are created by small groups of urban activists who want to remind their fellow citizens of who their neighbors used to be. In Zagreb, the murals will be shown on panels divided into 12 thematic units that speak, in an accessible way, of the importance of reviving memories in public spaces.
The project is run by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute (AMI), acting under its brand Culture.pl. The AMI is a national cultural institute, whose mission is to build and communicate the cultural dimension of the Polish brand through active participation in the international cultural exchange. The AMI has run cultural projects in 70 countries. It has held more than 6000 events, attracting an audience of over 57 million (since 2000) on five continents. The exhibition is organized in cooperation with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Warsaw, Poland and the programmes are co-financed by the funds of the City of Zagreb Office for Culture and Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia.
