Filmed over ten years, the documentary follows Israa from the age of eleven, when her family leaves Syria for Europe, through her adolescence in Cologne and on a journey back towards the place she had to leave. New freedoms meet family bonds, tradition and the experience of exile.

Itab Azzam and Jack MacInnes build an intimate coming-of-age chronicle in which displacement becomes a question of identity: what does it mean to belong, and what do we truly call home?
